‘Sufficient Femininity’ explores the leadership gap in Australian Parliament. This gap can be attributed to a concept defined by sociologists Dr Donaghue and Dr Hall as “sufficient femininity”, which plays a detrimental role in the underrepresentation of women in politics.
This practice-based research investigates how graphic design can advocate against the contemporary issue of gender bias and sexism in Australian politics. Through showcasing provocative slurs and harmful stereotypes, this risograph poster series calls out the derogatory culture of misogyny that occupies the political landscape of Australia.
